چکیده
This was a retrospective review of 394 patients with distal radius fractures referred to hand therapy from fracture clinic service provided by 24 hr acute medical care facility. Only those treated conservatively closed reduction and cast immobilisation were included. Age, gender, the number treatments received prior discharge identified, as well whether treatment alone or if they for specialist opinion. Men managed significantly less than women (rate ratio 0.67; 95% confidence interval [0.60–0.75]; p < 0.001) there significant difference between who not (p 0.001). Both genders an increasing age, peak in aged 40–60 years, followed decline. Global trends ageing population signal that incidence will continue increase. The findings this study suggest relatively low rehabilitation timeframes numbers uncomplicated, fractures. Results give some insight which are accessing post but further research is warranted understand criteria trigger referral how best provide equitable men.

With the wide array of treatment options now available, this is an exciting era for the treatment of fractures of the distal radius. An improved understanding of kinematics, bone quality, and muscle forces acting across the fracture has led to increased awareness of a fracture’s relative stability, as well as the development of innovative devices to counteract these forces and restore stability...

Distal radius fractures are a common injury, particularly in the elderly population. Severity of these fractures is directly related to the bone mineral density of the patient, and clinical results are dependent on this parameter as well. In terms of treatment, several options exist. Nonoperative management consists of closed treatment with casting. Operative treatment options include intrafoca...

Although distal radius fractures are a common injury in the elderly and young adult population, the classification, treatment options, and assessment of outcomes of these fractures remain controversial. Since there is no uniform fracture classification system, it is difficult to compare studies. An evidence-based model of management needs to be developed.

T he discovery of the x-ray was 80 years away when Irish surgeon Abraham Colles published his paper about fractures of the "distal extremity of the radius." He had no idea about the possible intra-articular component of this fracture, but he knew that the fracture was unstable and frequently settled back to the deformity that "will remain undiminished through life."l The management of this very...
